Chef David Murray AKA Chef Denim

Executive Chef / Owner

We love his whole food cooking. He brings a wealth of experience and a deep personal belief in buying and serving the freshest ingredients to the table.  “Over the course of my career, I’ve seen again and again the difference that working with fresh, locally sourced ingredients can make in a finished dish,” says Chef Murray, a native of Southern New Jersey whose resume includes time in a host of well-regarded kitchens across the region.  “There is simply no substitute for high-quality ingredients, and I’m proud to work with the best purveyors in the region to bring those products to our guests at Denim.”

Prior to opening Denim, Murray honed his knack for sourcing and brushed up on classical cooking techniques as Executive Chef of Georges Perrier’s namesake Mainline restaurant, Georges’.  Murray also served as the Executive Chef of The Gables at Chadds Ford, Hawthorne’s in Philadelphia, The Cambridge in Philadelphia, Legal Seafoods in King of Prussia and as Sous Chef under Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian at The Water Club Hotel in Atlantic City.

Murray is a graduate of The Academy of Culinary Arts in Mays Landing and credits his mother, a talented cook in her own right, with inspiring him to pursue a career in the kitchen. He currently resides in Cherry Hill with his beautiful wife, Stacy, and their two sons, Tavit (8) and Spencer (6).
